SOME QUICK FACTS ABOUT AMERICA’S DROUGHT

Sarah,

As you may have heard, a drought is hammering America right now.  Here are some quick facts about the drought:

- It is the worst drought in 55 years

- Record high temperatures have been recorded around America

-55% of the continental U.S. is facing moderate to extreme drought

-33% of the continental U.S. is facing severe to extreme drought

-1,000 counties around the country have been declared natural disaster areas

- America accounts for 52% of the world’s corn crop and 42% of the world’s soybean crop.  Both crops have been devastated.  Accordingly, the price of each crop has risen dramatically.
